Mountain Spring Fresh Scent

I HATE LAUNDRY!! Never in its existence has anyone hated laundry as much as I hate it. You have noticed that the above picture is not laundry that is because I Hate laundry so much I won't even take its picture. Well that and I am embarrassed to show how long I have let my laundry go because I hate it so much.

Why do I hate it so much. . . I have no idea. Even when laundry facilities have been in my own home I have hated every second of doing it. Is there a name for my condition? I am sure there is but I will not dignify laundry to find out.

So my question is is there a cure? Are there people who have found complete satisfaction in laundry? If so what is the secret? Is there a meditation that I need to do before I start separating my clothes? Is there something I can take to make me forget the entire laundry experience once I am done?(I am not condoning illegal drug use). If you have found peace and joy in the cleaning of clothes please tell me your secret. Right now I am close to tossing it all and buying new clothes whenever we run out of clean ones. (Thank heavens we are poor because if we were rich I think I could make us poor really fast).

Just today at Women's Conference, one of the speakers said that every time she folds an article of clothing, she thinks about how the person to whom it belongs blesses their home. I thought this was a unique and astounding idea--and that it would at least help me remember that I'm doing what I do out of love for my family--and not for the love of drudgery.

Laundry was always my favorite household job because it showed the most immediate result. I washed one day each week, and by washday the three baskets on top of the washer and dryer were full to overflowing. By the end of the task the baskets were empty, the laundry was folded into clean piles waiting for their owners to take them away and the house smelled cleanly of Tide.

Amanda and Patty,

I found my solution. I will just send my laundry to you both.

Thanks you are awesome.

LOVE that you HATE laundry too.

We've turned it into a game here on the suggestion from a friend and it goes much faster and "funner".

Speed Laundry.

Pile up all the clean laundry in a mountain in the middle of the floor, everyone dives in and separates the laundry into designated piles (on cushions, couch, piano bench...) after it's all divided, everyone folds and races the folded piles to their drawers. (This of course means the folded clothes don't stay too folded but c'mon! they're little)

It means more work in some ways but it's funner, and it's work disguised as play. My kids ASK to "play" laundry sometimes....

I like having time to ponder, because it's a task that keeps my hands busy but my mind free. But I dislike other household chores- such as cleaning toilets. Maybe if I listen to conference talks while I scrub it will help. :)
